""""My Passion is to clarify how a child learns, not to change what is working, fix teachers or manage outcomes

About Dawn Jackson, M.Ed
Dawn brings over two decades of experience in education as a credentialed teacher and certified LearningSuccess™ consultant. Her work focuses on helping families and educators understand how a child learns, so academic support and expectations are aligned with clarity, intention, and confidence.
With experience spanning traditional classroom settings and individualized learning environments, Dawn understands the complexity of supporting students whose abilities, effort, or engagement do not always align in predictable ways. Through extensive professional training, research, and practical application, she has developed a strengths-based approach that prioritizes insight, shared language, and student self-awareness over labels or reactive solutions.
Dawn specializes in assessment-informed guidance using tools such as the Self-Portrait™, which provides a comprehensive picture of a student’s learning dispositions, processing preferences, environmental needs, and natural talents. This insight allows families and educators to better understand what supports a student’s learning—and what unintentionally hinders it.
Dawn also provides thoughtful curriculum support, helping families evaluate and select resources that align with a child’s learning profile while respecting the expectations and philosophy of the educational setting already in place. Her role is not to replace what is working or prescribe rigid programs, but to serve as an external, collaborative resource that supports informed decision-making and productive communication.
Dawn’s work is grounded in the belief that when students understand how they learn, they develop confidence, self-advocacy, and a stronger sense of ownership over their education—benefits that extend far beyond the classroom.
A Personalized Learning Approach.
As Coaches we focus on helping families create a personalized learning plan through understanding their child's unique learning disposition. We start with a simple online assessment for both the child and the parent. This process helps identifies a child's learning preferences, strengths and learning styles. Parents are supported in new teaching methods to complement their child's strengths while gently developing areas that need growth.
This personalized approach not only enhances academic outcomes but significantly strengthens the parent-child relationship. When parents understand their child's learning disposition, they can respond with greater patience, appropriate expectations, and more effective support. This mutual understanding creates a positive feedback loop where learning becomes a collaborative journey rather than a source of tension.
The coaching process transforms the learning journey into opportunities for deeper connection and success filled homeschooling, turning everyday teaching moments into relationship-building experiences that benefit both parent and child for years to come."
As the CEO of Solimar Academy, Dawn draws on her personal experience and professional expertise to equip and empower parents navigating the world of home education. With a master’s degree in Special Education and General Education and extensive training and certifications in diverse learning styles and intrinsic motivation, she helps families discover how their children learn best—as well as those facing learning challenges.
Dawn works closely with individual families, co-ops, and homeschool communities, offering practical tools and encouragement to help parents feel confident, capable, and connected in their child’s educational journey.

Our Philosophy
At Solimar, we believe the most effective educational support begins with understanding how a child learns.
Too often, decisions about curriculum, expectations, and support are made without a clear picture of a student’s learning dispositions, motivations, processing preferences, and environmental needs. When this understanding is missing, even well-intentioned efforts can lead to frustration, misalignment, and unnecessary pressure for both students and families.
Our philosophy is grounded in a strengths-based, whole-child approach that prioritizes clarity over correction and alignment over reaction. Rather than starting with programs or prescriptions, we begin with insight—helping families and educators develop a shared language around how a student engages with learning.
This work draws from the LearningSuccess™ model of education, which emphasizes student self-awareness, emotional intelligence, intrinsic motivation, and real-world readiness. Central to this approach is the belief that students thrive when they understand their own learning processes and are supported in ways that honor those differences.
Insight gained through comprehensive learning profiles informs decisions about learning environments, instructional approaches, expectations, and—when appropriate—curriculum choices. Rather than prescribing a single educational path, we support thoughtful, informed decision-making that respects both the student and the educational setting they are part of.
Solimar serves as an external, collaborative resource for families and educators.
Our role is not to replace schools, teachers, or existing programs, but to support clearer understanding, more productive communication, and confident next steps. Whether a student is learning in a private school, homeschool setting, or a combination of environments, our focus remains the same: alignment that supports growth without labeling or unnecessary intervention.
We believe that when students are seen clearly and supported intentionally, they develop confidence, self-advocacy, and a lifelong capacity to engage meaningfully with learning.
